Dedication

Two sisters, Zaibunnisa and her younger sister, Gulbanu (aka) Rashida, married two cousin brothers, and migrated from Karachi, Pakistan to a single house in Mumbai, India. They have shared their entire life with the other! Rashida’s husband, Shabanali, was a discerning and exacting food lover. The combination of innate talent, a mother who was also a legendary cook in her own right, and a household that loved and demanded good food, created a powerhouse of food and recipes that inspires the extended family and friends to this date!

Zaibunnisa bai relished catering to all tastes at the table - a preference for a different spice level, or dislike for a particular ingredient in the dish at the table - she thoughtfully and lovingly prepared dishes to suit each individual. She could taste things in a restaurant or at someone else’s table and replicate them in her own kitchen. Zaibunnisa bai was known for coming across a well-made dish saying “Tell me exactly how you made this today!” Rashida bai became an expert at all “chaat”, snack items and desserts and her serving of love with all the dishes and her desire to get the perfect blend of the varied spices and chutneys in all her dishes was evident!

This site is a homage to the gifts these wonderful women gave to all who came to their table and their family…with thanks and appreciation!

Also thanks to Yahya, without whose spark, this venture would never have taken off!
