Dabba Gosht

 

Serves 4-6 people

Ingredients

Soft, boneless mutton: 1 lb

Ginger garlic (adrak lasan) paste: 1 cut tsp or ½ cut tsp each

Garam masala: a pinch

Ghee: 2 tbsp

Lime juice: ½ lime or to taste

Red chili powder: 1 tsp

Cashew (kaju) paste: 20-25 kajus (50 gms)

Green chili paste: 1 ½ tsp

Eggs: 2, beaten

Butter: 25 gms

Potato: 1 large, sliced in rounds and fried (see Note 1)

Tomato: 1 large, sliced in rounds

Directions

In a pressure cooker, add ghee.  When hot, add garam masala and red chili powder.  Add washed mutton, salt and adrak lasan.  Fry well.  Add a little water and pressure cook.  When done, dry the mixture.  Mixture should not be too wet.  In a flat heavy bottomed pan, fry potatoes in ghee.  In the same ghee, add kaju paste and green chilies.  Stop before browning..  Add mutton mixture. Add lime.

In a pyrex dish, layer:

  • Mixture

  • Ketchup

  • Tomato slices

  • Potato slices

  • Eggs

  • Butter

Bake on 400 till egg is done and water dries.  Use a fork to check that egg is firm.

Serve with paratha.

Notes:

  1. You can wash potatoes and leave skin on if you like
